Yet another world class athlete, Chicago Cubs pitcher Jake Arrieta, has discovered that Pilates is an exceptional way to build balance, strength and clarity. Not to mention a great way to prevent injury during a busy season!
“It took [Arrieta] one session to get hooked, and how he’s a total Pilates junkie”
We’re not surprised! Nearly every instructor at LightSpace originally started taking Pilates to recover from an injury of some sort. The results worked so well in fact that’s why we’re all at LightSpace… teaching and helping others in their own injury prevention and recovery process! From balance, alignment, coordination, internal focus, core strength (and not just the six-pack!) – the list could go on and on.
From the article, in his own words:
“It’s an incredible experience,” Arrieta says. “Pilates has been around a long time but maybe was taboo in this sport. I think it’s only a matter of time before you see a reformer in every big league clubhouse.”
“What I noticed from Pilates last year was that I have much better control of my body,” Arrieta says. “I repeat my delivery consistently. My balance is much improved. And the mental and physical toughness Pilates requires to complete movements the correct way have directly helped me on the mound.”
Go Cubs!
